ECW JPEG 2000 SDK 3.0
Large image support for your applications

ECW and JPEG 2000

The ECW compressed image format is the popular standard for compressing and using very large images. The JPEG 2000 format is an ISO standard. Both are supported in this one SDK. ECW is used by a wide range of GIS, CAD, imaging, office and web applications under Windows, Macintosh, Solaris, HP/UX and PocketPC.

Use the ECW JPEG 2000 SDK to easily add large image read/compress capabilities to your application. In addition to reading local image files, the ECW JPEG 2000 SDK enables efficient remote image access using the streaming ECWP protocol.

Features Benefits
Compress imagery by 95% or more Reduce images to manageable size
64 bit file support handles TB+ size images Compress large 50TB (50,000GB) size images

Flexible

ECW JPEG 2000 SDK libraries come pre-compiled for popular operating systems. Extensive examples and documentation make adding JPEG 2000 and ECW support to applications very easy.

And of course, the library is thread safe and takes advantage of multi processor and hyper-threaded CPUs for maximum performance.

Fast

Developed by Earth Resource Mapping, the world
leader in large imagery technology.

Rights to use our patented large-image Discrete Wavelet Transform technology and patented streaming imagery Internet technology are included as part of the SDK licenses.

New features

As part of our ongoing commitment to making imagery easy to use, this release of the ECW JPEG 2000 SDK adds even more features, including:

  • Full source code so you can port the SDK to
    new platforms as desired.
  • Full JPEG 2000 read/write (in addition to ECW
    read/write capabilities).

Application development is simplified with both ECW and JPEG 2000 in the same library with the same easy to use API. JPEG 2000 support in the SDK was developed by Earth Resource Mapping, drawing on our extensive real-world experience in developing wavelet based compression technology. It includes JPEG 2000 features such as lossless compression.

No limits

The latest ECW SDK has been tested to 50TB (50,000GB) size images.

Naturally, ECW has always supported compressed images larger than 2GB, eliminating support or
incompatibility problems.

As well as supporting 64 bit files, The ECW JPEG 2000 SDK will be available for a wide range of operating systems from mobile devices right through
to 64 bit operating systems.
