GPS Corrections using GPRS

Geo Info Strategies has developed NTRIP client for receiving RTK corrections using GPRS. This tool enables work with NavCom GPS receivers in network of permanent GPS Reference stations with accuracy of 10mm + 1ppm in real-time.

Module is developed for field controllers under Windows CE .NET. It has following characteristics:

  • Work in network of GPS Reference Stations, where RTK corrections are obtained for location of GPS rover,
  • Receiving RTK corrections from single base stations,
  • Communication through GPRS by means of NTRIP protocol,
  • Tested in practice

Registration of static GPS measurements for post-processing

The second module is used for registration of static measurements with NavCom GPS receivers for post-processing. The vectors determined by post-processing in geodetic control networks have standard of 5mm + 1ppm. This tool provides:

  • Registration of data about the project and conditions of measurements,
  • Monitoring and control of quality of measurements in real-time,
  • Automatic numbering of control points where measurements are recorded,
  • Measuring of deteremined number of registered epochs with or without fullfilling required QC parameters,
  • Saving results of measurements in the file, suitable for later processing

GNSS Data Over Internet

gisNTRIP System realizes the capability to distribute raw measurements data or corrections from GPS permanent stations to the rovers using Internet protocols for transport.

System is implemented with the complete support for NTRIP protocol (Networked Transport of RTCM via Internet Protocol) as a part of official RTCM SC104 standard. This protocol defines the means to transport GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) data in real-time and the communication between the participants in that transport.

System Architecture
Software support for data transport from the permanent station side is called NTRIP server; while at the rover side there is a software component to accept the data from the network and forward it to GPS receiver, named NTRIP client.

Name of the central component of the system is NTRIP caster and it is usually installed on the computer with permanent internet connection (like web server) or central computer in local network. NTRIP caster application on the central computer receives data from base stations (forwarded by NTRIP server software component). This data is being distributed towards the GNSS rovers, where the data is received by NTRIP client software component first and then forwarded to GPS/GLONASS/GALILEO receivers.

Features
The Basic System supports the connection to one reference GPS station that can send data / corrections in any format designated in advance. It is possible to transport the data seamlessly in any format available, like RTCM, CMR, NCT, etc. Professional release supports up to 10 simultaneous GPS reference stations. Enterprise release supports unlimited number of integrated GPS reference stations.

Large number of concurrent users have the capacity to receive the data coming from the selected base station in real-time via NTRIP caster. At rover side it is possible to use a GPS receiver from any manufacturer, that provides the chosen format of data and with implemented software support (NTRIP client) for corresponding computer platform.

It is possible to achieve centimeter level of accuracy in real-time at rover location.

System is optimized to allow the use of data in real-time even for users connected by plain dial-up connection (using modem and analog phone line), as well as by ISDN, GPRS (which is especially useful in the field, by using a mobile phone and rugged field data collector), cable internet or local area network (LAN).

Besides receiving the data from reference stations in real-time, users are capable of taking the data converted to RINEX format, that is ready to be processed later in order to obtain higher accuracy by using post-processing tools. When determining the data to be taken in RINEX format, it is possible to request data from certain period.

Evidence of Users
The System keeps the record with general information about users. User access to the system is controlled and the log of user connections is implemented.

User access can be restricted in the system, by defining user rights. For each user, it can be defined what stream (reference station) is allowed to be accessed.

Configuring access rights includes more options, where the first option allows the unrestrained access to user till the date specified, and the second options gives the opportunity for user to get the data freely in duration specified (until the total number of hours spent in receiving data doesn't exceed the specified limit).

Administering the System
System administrator is able to control more parameters that can be used to optimize the system performance, and adopt it more suitably to number of user accessing simultaneously and to the quality of internet connection utilized.

At any time, administrator of the System can monitor current situation on the permanent station (NTRIP server) and the transferred data as well as clients that are connected to the System.
